Learn how to use Wet and Forget to clean your outdoor surfaces this summer.

Summer is here, and with it comes a season of outdoor cleaning. Wet & Forget Outdoor can help you easily clean your home’s exterior surfaces.

To get you started, we’re answering some of our most frequently asked questions. You’ll find everything you need here to get started and rid roofs, siding, decks, driveways, walkways, RVs, and boats of stains caused by moss, mold, mildew, and algae.

What Wet & Forget Outdoor Products Are Available?

We carry three Wet & Forget Outdoor products (not including our Xtreme Reach™ Hose End Refill):

With each product, there’s no need to scrub or rinse. Simply apply the spray and let it work with the wind and rain to gently lift stains over time.

How to Use Wet & Forget Outdoor?

We designed all of our Wet & Forget Outdoor sprays to work simply and easily. In most cases, all you’ll need to do is wait for a mild, windless day, spray, and walk away.

However, each product has slightly different instructions to help maximize the effectiveness of its specific formula. Here’s a quick rundown.

For Wet & Forget Xtreme Reach™ Hose End:

  1. Connect your hose into the back of the Xtreme Reach™ Nozzle.
  2. Attach the best tip for your application (The fan tip is ideal for large surfaces, and the jet tip is best for reaching higher-up areas).
  3. Turn your water spigot on and then rotate the dial on the bottle to its “On” position.
  4. Thoroughly spray outdoor surfaces, then turn the dial to the “Off” position.
  5. Repeat annually or at the first sight of any new moss, mold, mildew or algae stains.

Note: Cover nearby plants and landscaping with a tarp or plastic prior to application. If plants are accidentally sprayed, turn the black dial to the “Water” position and rinse thoroughly.

For Wet & Forget Ready-to-Use:

  1. Remove the sticker on the cap and open the flip cap.
  2. Remove the trigger sprayer from its slot in the bottle’s handle.
  3. Pull out the hose coiled inside the sprayer to its full extensions (around three feet.)
  4. Insert the hose tip into the cap until you hear it click into place.
  5. Thoroughly spray surfaces.
  6. Repeat annually or at the first sight of any new moss, mold, mildew or algae stains.

Note: After use, turn the sprayer nozzle to the ‘OFF’ position and store the sprayer back in the bottle handle to avoid leaks. Once the trigger is connected, store and transport it in an upright position.

For Wet & Forget Concentrate:

  1. Mix one part Wet & Forget Concentrate with five parts water in your preferred garden pump sprayer.
  2. Thoroughly spray outdoor surfaces.
  3. Repeat annually or at the first sight of any new moss, mold, mildew or algae stains.

Note: When using Wet & Forget Concentrate or the Ready-To-Use version, rinse nearby plants/grass with water before and after applying Wet & Forget to prevent any spotting or damage to the leaves. Wet & Forget will not hurt trees or get into the root system of plants.

In all cases, Wet & Forget Outdoor works with wind and rain to gently lift stains over time.

You should see green stains (such as algae) begin to clean up within a few days or weeks with rainfall. Moss and black stains caused by mold or mildew may take a month or two, and especially built-up stains may need a few months with rain to disappear.

Depending on your local weather and climate, you may only need to apply Wet & Forget Outdoor once a year.

How to Clean a Pool Deck with Wet & Forget?

Due to the presence of moisture, pool decks are common breeding grounds for mold, mildew, moss, algae, and lichen stains. Wet & Forget Outdoor can keep those organic growths at bay whether it’s made of concrete, brick, wood, or composite materials.

While any Wet & Forget Outdoor product will work here, we recommend Wet & Forget Xtreme Reach™ Hose End to help you cover a large area.

To use, wait until temperatures are at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit and there is no rain expected for 4-5 hours after applying. Also, try to avoid applying during the hottest portion of the day or when the pool deck is already wet from fun-time splashing or rain.

Once that fateful day arrives, screw your hose into the back of the Wet & Forget Xtreme Reach™ Nozzle and attach the fan tip. Next, turn your water spigot on and turn the bottle’s dial to “On.” Then, thoroughly spray your pool deck.

Keep people and pets from going on the pool deck until the sprayed surfaces are dry.

Repeat at least once a year or at the first sight of moss, mold, mildew or algae stains.

Clean up your boat with Wet & Forget

Boat Cleaning with Wet & Forget

To clean your boat, we recommend Wet & Forget Concentrate. Before applying, make sure the bottom of the boat is completely dry and at least 100 feet away from any water source, such as a lake, stream, or river. (This will likely require you to place the boat on a wash rack.)

Additionally, wait until the weather conditions are right: a cool day with temperatures above 32 degrees Fahrenheit and no wind or rain in the immediate forecast. Avoid applying on especially hot days to avoid rapid evaporation of the product.

Once the bottom of the boat is completely dry, you’re ready to go. Mix one part Wet & Forget Concentrate with five parts water in your pump garden sprayer.

Then thoroughly spray the bottom of the boat. Wait for surfaces to fully dry before returning the boat to the water.

You can also use Wet & Forget Concentrate on the boat interior following the same instructions. For boat seats, we advise coming back the day after applying and rinsing the seats with water before use.

How to Clean An RV?

To clean your RV’s exterior, we recommend Wet & Forget Xtreme Reach™ Hose End. It will easily and effectively clean your RV’s roof, siding, and other exterior surfaces without forcing you to scramble up a ladder.

Wet & Forget Outdoor is safe to use when cleaning aluminum siding, rubber RV roofs, RV awnings, and other exterior surfaces.

Before spraying, make sure the conditions are right for application:

  • Mild day with temperatures of at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • No wind or rain in the forecast for the next four to five hours after application.
  • Surfaces are fully dry before spraying.

Additionally, only apply Wet & Forget Outdoor if you’re at least 100 feet from any water source, such as ponds, lakes, streams, or rivers. If your RV has any bumper stickers, make sure to cover them, too. (Decals placed by the manufacturer are okay to leave uncovered.)

To apply, attach your garden hose into the back of the Wet & Forget Xtreme Reach™ nozzle and attach the fan tip. Turn your water spigot on and turn the dial on the bottle to “On.” Then, thoroughly spray your RV’s exterior surfaces, including siding, roof, and awning.

For a faster application for large surfaces, attach the “fan” tip. To reach distances of up to 30 feet, attach the “jet” tip.

Allow surfaces to air dry. A single application can last up to a year, so consider cleaning either before hitting the road with your RV or before putting it in storage.
