Summer cleaning shouldn’t be a chore. But, if your home’s exterior is speckled with organic growth and your lawn furniture sits musty with mold, it’s easy to imagine that you’ll be spending most of the season scrubbing.

Instead of succumbing to the idea that you don’t have enough time to clean, check out our line of Wet & Forget Outdoor products. When you follow our summer-time tips and tricks, you’ll find that you’ll have plenty of time to lounge, play, or grill outside.

General Wet & Forget Outdoor Cleaner Tips

In most cases, using any of the Wet & Forget Outdoor products is straightforward: Point the sprayer and start spraying. However, to not negate the impact of your work, it helps to know when it’s best to apply the product.

Wet & Forget Outdoor products are obviously a liquid. That means they’re susceptible to drying and evaporation.

So, if you’re using them during the summer, the best time to apply them is usually in the morning on cool, overcast days. Surfaces will be cooler, and the lack of sun and heat will allow the solution to work through the organic growth.

Then, as wind and rain pass through your area, the weather will help lift and wash the stain away over time, leaving your outdoor surfaces spotless.

How to Remove Lichen and Moss

Lichens are a complex form of life made of two distinct organisms: fungi and algae. When fungi and algae combine, they form a symbiotic relationship that results in lingering lichen.

Lichen grows between tile cracks.

Due to lichen’s makeup, removing them can be fairly difficult. Even if you manage to kill one of the two organisms, you’re still left with the other.

Fortunately, Wet & Forget Outdoor is capable of removing lichen. There is one extra step you need to complete to get rid of lichen.

First, spray the lichen thoroughly until its outer layer is soaked. Then, wait 15 minutes to allow the outer layer to soften, and spray again.

Moss is another pernicious pest that can stain and damage surfaces. It’s also very absorbent.

Moss grows between bricks.

So, to remove moss with Wet & Forget, make sure to thoroughly soak the moss when spraying. The goal is to have the solution work its way through the moss until it reaches the surface it clings to.

Within a few days or weeks, the moss will start turning brown and detaching from the surface. Then the wind and rain will wash it away over the next few months.

Get the Most Out of Your Roof Cleaner

You may already know that Wet & Forget Xtreme Reach™ Hose End makes cleaning your roof simple and safe. But, people often fail to consider that the product is only as good as the hose to which it’s attached.

Unfortunately, if you haven’t used your hose in a while, you may find that certain critters have decided to use the cool, dark hose interior to hide, rest, or make their home.

Bugs and even snakes may find their way inside your hose. Then, when you attach it to the Xtreme Reach™ Hose End, you’ll soon encounter a clog as these pests block the flow of water.

So, before attaching the Xtreme Reach™ Hose End, let your hose run for a few minutes to clear any impending blockages. Then, when it’s time to clean, you’ll be treated to an unobstructed flow.

Other Wet & Forget Xtreme Reach™ Hose End Tips for Summer Cleaning

Wet & Forget Xtreme Reach™ Hose End can spray up to 30 feet, making it easy to clean roofs and second-floor exteriors. However, to ensure it can reach that distance, don’t use the product on a windy day.

Additionally, the spray works best when the temperature is at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Mild temperatures and windless days are the best way to ensure you’re getting the most out of your Wet & Forget Xtreme Reach™ Hose End.

Finally, if you find your bottle empty when it’s time to spray, pick up a bottle of Wet & Forget Xtreme Reach™ Hose End Refill. The refill bottle has an unlimited shelf life, so keeping a few on hand ensures you never run out when it’s time for application.

Prep Wet & Forget Concentrate for Best Summer Cleaning Results

Wet & Forget Concentrate is an efficient way to maximize your dollar. A single one-gallon container will yield six gallons of outdoor wash spray.

To mix, use a formula of 1 part concentrate to 5 parts water. In your sprayer this typically translates to adding 2.5 cups of concentrate to your sprayer and then filling it with water until it reaches the gallon mark.

For twice the mixed spray, you can use 5 cups of concentrate and fill your sprayer with water until it reaches the 2-gallon mark.

Finding the Right Sprayer for Wet & Forget Concentrate

Speaking of sprayers, we recommend either garden pump or backpack sprayers.

We find these sprayers are the best at saturating surfaces. They also typically don’t become too unwieldy when used in your yard.

Now, you may be tempted to use Wet & Forget Concentrate to refill your Wet & Forget Xtreme Reach™ Hose End.

However, the dilution rate in each product differs. So, using the concentrate with your Xtreme Reach™ Hose End may cause issues when it’s time to clean.

How to Use the Wet & Forget Ready-To-Use Sprayer

Wet & Forget Ready-to-Use is one of our most popular products for a reason: It has everything you need to clean outdoor surfaces — from an effective solution to an efficient sprayer.

However, some people don’t realize just how impactful the sprayer can be in their cleaning. So here’s how to set up and use your sprayer to maximize results:

  1. Open the bottle’s flip cap.
  2. Remove the sprayer from its slot in the handle.
  3. Pull the hose tip until it’s completely extended — about three feet.
  4. Press the hose tip into the opening on the bottle cap until you hear it click into place.
  5. Twist the nozzle at the end of the sprayer to either spray (to saturate significant surface areas quickly) or stream (to reach far distances.)
  6. When finished spraying, turn the nozzle to “Off,” the On/Off lever to “Closed,” and return the sprayer to its slot in the handle.
