April showers bring May flowers. But they can also bring an effortlessly clean exterior to your home, deck, and driveway.

Of course, to take on such an important responsibility, precipitation needs a partner. Wet & Forget Outdoor works with the rain and wind to effortlessly clear away green and black stains from a variety of outdoor surfaces.

So take advantage of spring weather to give your home the outdoor cleaning it deserves with Wet & Forget Outdoor! (And to show you how effective Wet & Forget is, we’ve included before and after siding cleaning photos a customer posted on our Facebook group.)

Take Advantage of April Showers

Before launching into how Wet & Forget gently and effectively removes stains from your home’s exteriors, let’s talk about wind and rain.

April is well known for its rain showers. These bursts of precipitation come from the migration of the jet stream — high-speed, atmospheric winds — from Mexico to southern Canada.

Additionally, as temperatures begin to climb out of their winter doldrums, the addition of heat to the atmosphere creates the ideal formula for rain, wind, and thunderstorms.

Because Wet & Forget Outdoor works with the wind and rain, April becomes the ideal time to knock out your exterior cleaning to-do list. Outdoor brick cleaning, roof cleaning, and driveway cleaning all become easier with the power of Mother Nature at your side.

How Does Wet & Forget Work with the Wind and Rain?

Many outdoor cleaners are harsh on exterior surfaces and require lots of physical activity. These cleaners require needless scrubbing or tedious power washing to get the job done.

Wet & Forget Outdoor products work differently. They use a gentle cleaning solution that’s non-acidic and free of bleach or phosphates.

So, you can use Wet & Forget Outdoor safely on practically any outdoor surface:

  • Aluminum, metal, and steel
  • Asphalt, brick, clay, and concrete
  • Fabric and outdoor carpet
  • Plastic, PVC, rubber, and vinyl
  • Marble, slate, stone, and stucco
  • Painted and stained surfaces
  • Teak and wood

But how does a gentle cleaning solution pack the necessary power to clean these surfaces of common stains?

By working with the wind and rain to gently and effectively remove stains over time.

Exterior siding marked with green stains

Siding becomes clean with Wet & Forget
When you first apply the outdoor house cleaner, it attacks the growth and stain on your exterior surfaces. Once the product is dry, it is no longer active.

Each new rainfall then agitates the surface, which will help lift and remove the stain.

This means that Wet & Forget is particularly effective on stubborn stains. And it works without needing to scrub, power wash, or even climb ladders.

How to Use Wet & Forget Outdoor for Small-Scale Outdoor House Cleaning

For small-scale outdoor cleaning, we recommend Wet & Forget Ready-to-Use. The formula is premixed, allowing you to forgo manually mixing concentrates with water.

Each container contains enough formula to cover 60 to 180 square feet, making it ideal for decks, outdoor furniture, and small driveways.

Before using, wait for a day that’s at least 32 degrees Fahrenheit and without rain or wind in the forecast.

While the product works with Mother Nature to gently clear stains, the formula needs at least four to five hours to soak into the stains to maximize effectiveness.

Once conditions look good, applying the product couldn’t be easier:

  • Open the flip cap on the Wet & Forget Outdoor container.
  • Remove the sprayer from the slot in the container’s handle.
  • Extend the hose tip to its full three feet.
  • Firmly press the hose tip into the opening on the open cap until you hear it click into place.
  • Rotate the sprayer’s nozzle to either spray (for quick application) or stream (to reach distances further distances)
  • Spray the product until stains are thoroughly soaked.

In only a matter of minutes, you’re done. Then it’s the wind and rain’s turn to gently remove the stains over time.

If you’re dealing with moss, make sure to soak the moss to ensure the spray comes in contact with the attached surface. You’ll soon see the moss turn brown and fall away from the surface it previously clung to.

How to Handle Large-Scale Outdoor Cleaning and Hard-to-Reach Areas

If you’re looking to clean stains from more extensive outdoor surfaces, try Wet & Forget Xtreme Reach™ Hose End.

A single bottle can cover up to 2,000 square feet, and the uniquely designed sprayer can help you reach distances of up to 30 feet.

That makes it perfect for large decks, driveways, second-floor exteriors, and roofs.

Stain-marked roofs are difficult to clean

You’ll want to wait to apply the product when weather conditions are ideal: at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit and with no wind or rain expected within four to five hours of application.

Then, simply attach your hose to the bottle, and rotate the dial counter-clockwise until you reach the “On” position.

For large surfaces (such as driveways and decks), use the fan tip. To reach distances of up to 30 feet high, switch to the jet tip.

Again, in only minutes, you’ll be able to clean practically every outdoor surface, from your driveway to your home’s exterior and roof to large decks and patios.

There’s no need to rinse, scrub, or powerwash. Just let the wind and rain take over to gently clean your outdoor surfaces.

Wet & Forget Outdoor Timelines

Because Wet & Forget Outdoor cleans gently, that means it takes time for it to remove stains.

In the case of green stains, rain should wash them away within a few weeks. So, an April application may be all you need for clean surfaces in May.

Black stains can take up to a couple of months, though rainfall can speed up that process.

Long-established and stubborn stains may need between six to 12 months to be fully removed, and a second application a month or so after the first can prove beneficial.

In the case of moss, you should begin to see it turn brown and fall from surfaces within a few days or weeks. Then rain and wind should help wash away any lingering stains.

While it’s important to remember that good things take time, it’s also helpful to know that this process is not intensive. Depending on your local climate and weather, a single application of our effective outdoor cleaner can last up to a year or longer.
